Virginee cares for her three children, as well as three nieces. She was raised by her father because her mother left them when she was six months old. Virginee married later in life and when she was pregnant with their third child, her husband died. Upon returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo after the 1994 Genocide, Virginee became very ill and was forced to send her children to the streets to beg for food and money.
In 2005 Virginee discovered she was HIV+. She spent many sleepless nights wondering how she would provide for her children. She now praises God for her home and employment. Virginee is now teaching several of the other widows to read and write.
Her favorite bible verse is Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
